Omaha-Offutt AMS Forecast Contest Blog
November 19, 2007
Week 2 standings have now been published. I apologize for the delay. It turns out I created the files only
to forget the transfer of the results to the server!
A reminder: if you forget your login ID or password, or need to change it for some reason, please contact me.
Do NOT create a second account. A couple of people have done this and it wreaks havoc on my software, as I have
to manually delete your first account and the standings files with your old ID number on it. Thank you in advance
for your cooperation!
Remember also that there's no contest this week. The week 4 entry form is posted, but the deadline isn't until
November 30th. I'll have the week 3 results posted after the Thanksgiving holiday. We're moving on to the D
city, the Big D in fact, Dallas, Texas. After that we'll be off to some smaller cities and more exotic locales as
we advance through the alphabet!

We're off and running! We have a total of 33 people registered to play. Only 23 of you entered
forecasts though. I made a change to the rules prior to today that allows everyone to miss 2
weeks without penalty. On the weeks you miss, you'll receive the consensus forecast as your entry.
But after 2 missed entries you'll accrue error points for each subsequent failure to enter.
My advice to avoid this is to enter *something* early in the week in case you forget. Remember that
you can change your entry as many times as you want during the week; only your LAST entry counts!
Everything seems to have gone smoothly, save for some behind the scenes last-minute coding issues.
Now that all the entries are in, you can see the range of forecasts by choosing "Distribution" under
the "Standings" menu. The average values here for each city will be the consensus entry that a number
of you will receive as your forecast.
Week 2's entry form is already on line, so you can start thinking about it. I'll use a different
color background each week for the entry form so you can tell when it has been updated-you can also
look at the header of course!

Just 3 days until entries are due! I've added a new page under "Submit Forecast"
that allows you to check all your entries for a given week. This can also be used to
make sure your entry was received. Remember that only your LAST forecast is your entry
for the week. So you can change your entry as often as you want during the week. Remember
though that if you enter past the deadline, only your last entry before the deadline gets
used. So don't forget to enter before 5 pm every Friday!
